    Bash Bug Update - 9/26/14

A new vulnerability, code named Bash Bug or Shellshock, has recently been announced that affects a wide range of web sites and devices that connect to the internet.  Included are popular web browsers Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, Apple computers running the latest version of Mac OSx “Maverick”, as well as a wide range of sites.  Internet connected devices, including home IP cameras and thermostat monitors, may also be impacted.  Computers and laptops running Microsoft Windows are not vulnerable to Bash Bug.

This weakness could allow unauthorized users to remotely gain control of the system or systems affected by the vulnerability.  Web service providers around the world, including those at, are currently assessing their systems and patching as needed.  We recommend returning to this alert often for updates, as well as applying patches from vendors (including Apple) as they become available.
